A Republican budget bill proposes selling over 2 million acres of public land across 11 states, sparking criticism from conservationists, hunting groups, and some conservatives.

Sen. Mike Lee of Utah included the measure to boost energy production, revenue, and housing, excluding national parks and monuments.

Despite his defense, the plan faces opposition within his party, with Rep. Ryan Zinke successfully removing similar provisions from the House version, The Hill has reported.
