The House voted 344–79 to table Rep. Al Green’s resolution to impeach President Trump over his recent strikes on Iran, with bipartisan support to block the effort.
Most Democrats, including top leadership, sided with Republicans to kill the measure, reflecting political caution despite progressive calls for impeachment.
Green argued Trump’s actions amounted to an unauthorized war declaration, Fox News has reported.
Some progressives, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also backed impeachment, but House leaders, including Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, urged focusing on forcing the administration to justify its actions to Congress first rather than pursuing impeachment immediately.
