A Texas highway was closed for several hours Thursday after a 64-year-old woman crashed into a truck, then set up a lawn chair in a lane and threatened herself with a gun, leading to a standoff.
The incident on I-45 near Houston ended peacefully when she surrendered.
No one was hurt. Authorities said crisis negotiators and the woman’s daughter helped convince her to give up.
The woman has a history of mental illness, and police praised the resolution as saving her life, ABC News has reported.
Traffic on the interstate has since reopened.
