Canada is demanding answers from the U.S. after Canadian citizen Johnny Noviello, 49, died in immigration custody in Miami while awaiting deportation.

Noviello, a long-time U.S. resident, had been convicted in 2023 on drug-related charges.

His cause of death is under investigation, Axios has reported.

Canadian officials have expressed condolences and are seeking more details from U.S. authorities.
