DHS sues entire bench of federal judges in Maryland district court over automatic injunctions

The Department of Homeland Security is suing all 15 federal judges in Maryland over a court policy that automatically pauses certain immigration cases for two business days.

DHS argues this order, meant to preserve the status quo while habeas petitions are filed, is unlawful judicial overreach that disrupts deportations.

The court says the policy addresses scheduling problems from a surge of last-minute petitions.

The Trump administration also wants the Maryland judges to recuse themselves from the case, Fox News has reported.

The lawsuit highlights tensions as Trump’s deportation agenda faces legal challenges from immigrants asserting their rights.
