Thousands protest in Bangkok calling for Thai PM to resign

Thousands protested in Bangkok demanding Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra resign after a leaked call with former Cambodian leader Hun Sen angered the public.

In the call, she called him “uncle” and criticized a Thai commander, sparking accusations of undermining Thailand’s sovereignty.

A coalition partner quit the government, and protesters blocked roads, calling her an “enemy of state.” Paetongtarn apologized but defended the call as negotiation.

The Constitutional Court is set to consider a petition for her removal, the BBC has reported.

Tensions between Thailand and Cambodia have been rising after a deadly border clash.
