President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone Thursday, but made no progress toward ending the war in Ukraine.
Trump, who has long claimed he could quickly broker peace, admitted, “I didn’t make any progress.”
The nearly two-hour call also covered Iran, but no breakthrough was reported.
Putin’s aide confirmed the two did not discuss the reported pause in U.S. weapons shipments to Ukraine.
Trump offered a vague response when asked about the pause, criticizing previous aid levels and emphasizing the need to replenish U.S. stockpiles, Politico has reported.
He plans to speak with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy on Friday.
