Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said she personally intervened to stop a federal immigration enforcement operation in MacArthur Park on Monday.
Bass confronted U.S. Border Patrol agents, demanding they leave, and said they departed shortly after.
Video showed uniformed authorities on foot and horseback moving through the park where children had been playing.
Bass called the operation “absolutely outrageous.”
Federal officials said Customs and Border Protection led the large-scale operation, with ICE support and military units previously deployed to protect federal property, The Hill has reported.
DHS declined to comment on details of the enforcement action.
