An Israeli air strike on Sunday killed ten people, including six children, as they queued for water in central Gaza’s al-Nuseirat refugee camp.
Israel’s military said a “technical error” caused the missile to miss its intended target, an Islamic Jihad militant, and said the incident is under review.
Across Gaza, Israeli strikes have intensified, with Gaza’s Civil Defence reporting 19 more deaths the same day in separate attacks.
The Red Cross says its field hospital in Rafah has treated more mass-casualty cases in six weeks than in the previous year, amid soaring violence around aid distribution sites.
Since Israel’s offensive began after Hamas’s October 7 attack, over 57,000 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, the BBC has reported.
Most of Gaza’s population has been repeatedly displaced, with infrastructure in ruins and severe shortages of fuel, food, and medical supplies.
