Ex-Army officer pleads guilty to sharing classified war info on dating site

A retired Army officer and Air Force civilian employee, David Slater, 64, pleaded guilty to conspiring to share classified information about Russia’s war in Ukraine on a foreign online dating platform.

While working at U.S. Strategic Command in Nebraska with top secret clearance, Slater transmitted secret military details to someone posing as a woman in Ukraine.

He faces up to 10 years in prison, with sentencing set for October, CBS News has reported.

Prosecutors will recommend a sentence of just under six years, citing his knowing betrayal of national defense secrets.
