Delta regional pilot makes ‘aggressive maneuver’ to avoid B-52 collision

A Delta Connection flight operated by SkyWest made an abrupt maneuver to avoid a potential mid-air collision with a B-52 bomber while approaching Minot, North Dakota, on July 18.

The pilot apologized to passengers, calling it an “aggressive maneuver” done for safety.

The flight had been cleared for landing when the B-52 suddenly appeared in its path.

It’s unclear how close the two aircraft came.

The Air Force and SkyWest are both investigating the incident, ABC News has reported.

Minot is home to an Air Force base with B-52 bombers, one of which had conducted a flyover nearby that evening.
