Suspect named in shooting of Border Patrol agent in New York City park

A 21-year-old suspect, Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, is in custody after allegedly shooting an off-duty U.S. Border Patrol agent late Saturday night in New York City’s Fort Washington Park.

The agent was shot in the face and arm but is expected to recover.

Surveillance video captured the attempted robbery and shootout, helping police quickly identify the suspect.

Mora Nunez, who entered the U.S. illegally in 2023, has prior arrests and is wanted for multiple violent crimes in New York and Massachusetts.

He was found at a Bronx hospital with gunshot wounds matching those seen in the video, ABC News has reported.

His accomplice remains at large.
