A woman was mauled by a brown bear while hiking the Basher Trail in Alaska’s Chugach Mountains on Tuesday.
She called 911 and was later rescued by helicopter; her injuries are non-life-threatening.
The bear ran off after the attack and has not been found.
Authorities have closed the area and are searching for the animal, the Associated Press has reported.
Officials are urging hikers to be prepared, carry bear spray, and avoid trails near Stuckagain Heights for now.
