Multiple deputies shot in incident near Virginia, North Carolina border

Multiple deputies were shot Wednesday in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, while serving warrants and a protective order.

Officers were met with gunfire; two deputies were hit by shrapnel and a third was briefly treated and released.

A standoff followed, ending when the suspect, James Andru Lehnerd, surrendered and was taken into custody, Fox News has reported.

A large police presence remained at the Gretna scene late Wednesday.
