Denmark summoned the top U.S. diplomat in Copenhagen after a report alleged that three Americans linked to president Donald Trump were conducting “covert influence operations” in Greenland to promote secession and closer ties with Washington.
The Danish Foreign Ministry called the meeting a “preventive conversation,” stressing that interference in Greenland’s affairs is unacceptable.
The claims, published by Denmark’s public broadcaster, said the operatives gathered information, built local contacts, and sought to exploit divisions over independence, the New York Times has reported.
Denmark has repeatedly rejected Trump’s push to acquire Greenland, a resource-rich Arctic territory, while Trump allies and associates have continued pursuing political and business ties on the island.
