Argentina’s President Javier Milei was forced to cut short a campaign event on Wednesday after his motorcade came under attack in Lomas de Zamora, south of Buenos Aires.
Video footage showed the libertarian leader standing on a moving pick-up truck and ducking to avoid an object thrown from the crowd.
Security quickly rushed him into a black van and evacuated him from the scene.
Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni confirmed there were no injuries and accused militants from the Peronist opposition of orchestrating the incident, the Financial Times has reported.
The attack came amid rising public anger over corruption allegations within Milei’s administration, adding further tension to an already heated political climate.
