Ashli Babbitt, Jan. 6 rioter killed in Capitol, offered military funeral honors

The U.S. Air Force will grant military funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt, a 35-year-old Air Force veteran killed by Capitol Police during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot.

Babbitt, who served in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the UAE, was shot while attempting to enter a restricted area near the House chamber.

A Capitol Police investigation deemed the shooting lawful, Politico has reported.

Earlier this year, the Trump administration settled a wrongful death lawsuit with Babbitt’s family for nearly $5 million.
