Boy dies after being shot in door-knocking prank gone wrong

An 11-year-old boy in Houston died after being shot in the back while allegedly playing a door-knocking prank late Saturday night, police said.

The child collapsed a block from the home and was pronounced dead at a hospital Sunday.

A man believed to have fired multiple shots has been detained but not yet charged; police found numerous weapons in his house.

The incident is linked to the “Door Kicking Challenge,” a viral trend where kids bang on doors and run away, which authorities warn can be mistaken for break-ins and lead to dangerous consequences, ABC News has reported.

Similar cases have been reported across Texas and Arizona.
