Marco Rubio will head to Latin America again as Trump prioritizes immigration

Secretary of State Marco Rubio will visit Mexico and Ecuador next week, marking his fourth trip to the Western Hemisphere since becoming Trump’s top diplomat.

The visit aims to address U.S. priorities, including curbing illegal migration, combating drug cartels, and countering Chinese influence in the region.

Rubio has previously traveled to multiple Latin American countries, negotiating deportation agreements and supporting efforts to limit China’s economic footprint, including Panama reclaiming canal port control, the Associated Press has reported.

The trip runs from Tuesday to Thursday in Mexico City and Quito.
