Texas man charged with murder in shooting of child playing doorbell prank

A Houston man, Gonzalo Leon Jr., 42, has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting 11-year-old Julian Guzman, who was playing a “ding dong ditch” prank by ringing doorbells and running away.

Police say Guzman was shot in the back late Saturday and died the next day.

Witnesses reported someone running from a house and firing at the children.

Investigators said the shooting did not appear to be self-defense, the BBC has reported.

Similar prank-related incidents have led to deadly shootings in Virginia and California in recent years.
