Mexican authorities say influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay, her husband, and their two children were found executed and wrapped in plastic inside their pickup truck in Guadalajara, likely in a cartel-related attack.
Investigators believe the family was killed at a nearby auto repair shop before their bodies were moved.
Two suspects were briefly detained but later released, and armed men later kidnapped them outside the prosecutor’s office, with one person managing to escape.
Officials suspect the husband was the main target, though his alleged ties to organized crime remain unconfirmed, the New York Post has reported.
The family had recently relocated from violence-plagued Michoacán, while Ferrer Garibay often flaunted luxury goods and narco-themed content on social media.
