A suicide bombing at a Balochistan National Party rally in Quetta killed 15 people and injured dozens, the province’s interior minister said.
The attack occurred in a stadium parking lot as participants were dispersing, and the Islamic State claimed responsibility through its propaganda channels.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest but poorest province, has long faced insurgency and separatist violence, with armed groups targeting both state forces and civilians, France 24 has reported.
The attack comes amid broader unrest in the region, including paramilitary casualties from bombings and previous high-profile incidents by Baloch separatists, as local groups continue to demand greater rights and economic investment for the Baloch people.
