Former President Joe Biden recently underwent Mohs surgery to remove cancerous skin cells, his office confirmed.
He is reportedly recovering well. Biden, 82, has a history of basal cell carcinoma, having had cancerous lesions removed from his chest in 2023, and his former first lady Jill Biden also had skin lesions removed that year.
The news follows Biden’s disclosure earlier in 2024 of aggressive, bone-metastasized prostate cancer, which is being actively managed, NBC News has reported.
His health has been a topic of public and partisan discussion, particularly after his decision to end his 2024 re-election bid.
