Donna Adelson, the matriarch of a wealthy South Florida family, was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and solicitation in the 2014 killing of her former son-in-law, Florida State law professor Daniel Markel.
Prosecutors said Adelson helped orchestrate the murder-for-hire plot after Markel blocked her daughter Wendi from moving their children to South Florida.
Adelson is the fifth person convicted in the case, joining her son Charles, his ex-girlfriend Katherine Magbanua, and two hired gunmen already serving prison sentences, NBC News has reported.
Sentencing will be scheduled later.
