Thirteen-year-old Jackson Denio of Hampton, New Hampshire, caught a 177-pound Atlantic halibut on a deep-sea fishing trip off the New England coast, reeling in a fish larger than himself after a 30-minute struggle.
The catch may qualify as a world record under the International Game Fish Association’s junior category, where the Atlantic halibut record is currently vacant.
Denio, thrilled by the experience, says the massive haul has only fueled his desire to get back on the water and try for an even bigger catch, the Associated Press has reported.
