Home Office clear out as UK’s Starmer reshuffles top team

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has launched a sweeping ministerial reshuffle targeting his top team in an effort to strengthen governance and address internal challenges.

Key figures—including Yvette Cooper, Dame Angela Eagle, and Dame Diana Johnson—were reassigned or removed from the Home Office, signaling a shift in leadership priorities.

Sarah Jones and Alex Norris moved into roles within the Home Office under newly appointed Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood.

Anna Turley was appointed as minister without portfolio in the Cabinet Office and will replace Ellie Reeves as Labour Party chair, while Reeves transitions to Solicitor General, as reported by the BBC.

Other changes included the removal of farming minister Daniel Zeichner and an elevation for Jason Stockwood to business minister, reflecting Starmer’s intent to bring fresh energy and private-sector insight into government roles.
