Man shot and killed by police after allegedly slashing NYPD officer with 14-inch blade

A man was fatally shot by police after allegedly slashing an officer in the face with a 14-inch butcher knife inside the rear of Brooklyn’s 73rd Precinct in Brownsville.

The offender initially attempted to enter through a locked front door before forcing his way in from the rear.

After attacking a female officer, he fled the premises while still armed, prompting a pursuit that ended in an exchange of gunfire at a nearby street intersection.

The suspect was struck multiple times and later pronounced dead at a hospital, while the wounded officer is recovering.

The NYPD confirmed the events as described by NBC New York.
