Israeli airstrikes on Yemen kill at least 35, Houthi officials say

Israel carried out a new wave of heavy airstrikes in Yemen on Wednesday, killing at least 35 people and injuring more than 130, according to the Houthi-run health ministry.

The strikes, concentrated in Sanaa, hit a military headquarters and a fuel station, with nearby houses also damaged as rescue crews searched through the rubble for survivors.

The attacks came just days after Iran-backed Houthi rebels launched a drone strike that penetrated Israel’s defenses and hit a southern airport, part of their campaign in solidarity with Hamas.

The escalation coincided with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s call for sanctions and partial trade suspension against Israel, intensifying the country’s international isolation, the Associated Press has reported.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, Israel continued urging mass evacuations from Gaza City while preparing intensified strikes, but displaced Palestinians said there is no true safe zone as families struggle in overcrowded camps with scarce resources and worsening conditions.
