Renowned chef arrested after robbing three banks on same day

Valentino Luchin, a 62-year-old chef once celebrated in San Francisco’s dining scene, has been arrested for allegedly robbing three banks in one day in the city’s Central District.

Police say he passed handwritten notes to tellers demanding cash, leaving with bags of money before being identified through community tips and SFPD’s ambassador program.

Luchin, a former executive chef and part-owner of the restaurant Ottavio, has previously faced accusations of a 2018 bank robbery in California, where he admitted using a fake gun, the Mirror has reported.

He is now in San Francisco County Jail on multiple robbery counts but has not yet been formally charged.
