Tornadoes destroy several homes in southeastern Utah

Two tornadoes struck southeastern Utah’s San Juan County near Montezuma Creek on Saturday, destroying three homes but causing no reported injuries.

The tornadoes, which touched down within an hour, had paths likely under 10 miles, though exact tracks and wind speeds are still being assessed.

The storm also displaced an unknown number of livestock and pets on the Navajo Nation, which spans parts of Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, the Associated Press has reported.

Tornadoes are rare in this area, with only two previously confirmed since 1950.
