Polish president visits Germany amid tensions over WWII reparations

Polish President Karol Nawrocki visited Berlin, calling for Nazi-era war reparations from Germany while seeking support amid Russian aggression.

He met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz, but German officials, including the commissioner for Polish affairs, stressed that reparations are considered a closed issue and warned that pressing it could strain bilateral ties.

Analysts note that cooperation is crucial given recent Russian drone incursions into Polish airspace, Euro News has reported.
