A military helicopter crashed around 9 p.m. Wednesday near Joint Base Lewis–McChord in Washington state, base officials confirmed.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded after reports of a crash near Summit Lake and noted the military had lost contact with the aircraft.

Authorities are working with JBLM to provide assistance, but no further details have been released, ABC News has reported.
