Protests at the ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, continued into their second week as officers carried out deportation operations under “Operation Midway Blitz.”

Demonstrators, including Abraham Aguirre, gathered to support family members detained at the center, waving and providing supplies as buses transported detainees, some headed for Mexico and Venezuela.

Tensions flared as ICE agents used pepper balls against protesters, leading to a few arrests, while Broadview police did not intervene.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed nearly 550 arrests in the broader Chicago operation, but the facility remains open despite calls to close it, the Chicago Sun Times has reported.

Protesters emphasized the need for immigration reform and expressed solidarity with families affected by the raids.
