Trump pushes justice department to prosecute several high profile Democrats

President Donald Trump urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to more aggressively investigate his political opponents, including James Comey, Adam Schiff, and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

He expressed frustration that “nothing is being done” and praised Bondi as “doing a great job.”

Trump’s calls came after federal prosecutor Erik Siebert resigned following Trump’s demand to prosecute James over alleged mortgage fraud, which she denies.

Democrats criticized Trump’s actions as undermining the Justice Department’s independence, citing his history of firing officials who opposed him, the BBC has reported.

Trump has also targeted other prosecutors and officials connected to investigations of him and revoked some security clearances.
