Germany prepares to treat ‘1,000 injured soldiers a day’ in war with Russia

Germany has warned that up to 1,000 of its soldiers could be wounded daily if Russia launches a war on NATO.

The Kremlin denies planning any conflict, but recent Russian incursions into Poland, Romania, and Estonia have heightened fears.

Germany’s surgeon general, Ralf Hoffmann, emphasized that casualty numbers would depend on battle intensity and military units involved.

Drawing lessons from Ukraine, European nations are enhancing military readiness, medical services, and considering reintroducing conscription.

Hoffmann highlighted a shift in battlefield injuries from gunshots to drone-caused blasts and burns, requiring prolonged frontline stabilization.

Germany is preparing hospital trains, buses, and expanded medical evacuation to treat wounded soldiers, estimating a need for around 15,000 hospital beds, the Metro has reported.

The warning comes amid the latest Russian MiG-31 incursion into Estonian airspace, which Moscow has dismissed as unfounded.
