Russia and Ukraine trade deadly drone strikes

Russia and Ukraine accused each other of deadly drone strikes on civilian areas as Ukrainian President Zelenskyy prepared for a “very intense week” at the U.N. General Assembly, seeking support for a U.S.-led peace effort and a potential summit with Putin.

International concern has grown over the conflict spreading, following Russian drones reaching Poland and fighter jets entering Estonian airspace, prompting an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting.

Both sides reported casualties from recent attacks: Russian strikes killed civilians in Zaporizhzhia, while Ukrainian drones hit Crimea and Russia’s Belgorod region, the Associated Press has reported.

Zelenskyy stressed the need for strong international action and tighter sanctions on Russia, as the fighting and diplomatic efforts continue with no resolution in sight.
