House and Senate Democrats launched separate investigations this week into the Trump administration’s decision to shut down an FBI bribery probe involving Tom Homan, Trump’s border czar.
The inquiry began after undercover agents recorded Homan in 2024 accepting a bag with $50,000 in cash and offering to help secure border security contracts.
Despite the evidence, the Justice Department closed the case earlier this year, prompting Democrats to accuse the administration of a cover-up.
Lawmakers are demanding all recordings and communications related to the investigation and have urged Homan to testify before Congress, the New York Times has reported.
The White House has denied any wrongdoing, with Trump and his press secretary defending Homan as a “brave public servant,” while Homan insists he did “nothing criminal.”
