Eli Lilly announces plans for $6.5B manufacturing plant in Houston

Eli Lilly confirmed on Sept. 23 that it will build a $6.5 billion manufacturing plant in Houston’s Generation Park as part of its domestic expansion.

CEO David Ricks joined Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for the announcement, marking an increase from the previously planned $5.9 billion investment.

The plant is located within the Sheldon Independent School District. Earlier this year, Lilly filed for a tax abatement through Texas’ Jobs, Energy, Technology, and Innovation (JETI) program, KHOU 11 has reported.

In August, the Texas Comptroller recommended approval of the application, leaving only a final agreement with Abbott’s office and the school district.
