Texas, Alabama to execute inmates at same time this week

Texas and Alabama are set to execute death row inmates Geoffrey West and Blaine Milam at nearly the same time on Thursday, Sept. 25. West, 50, will be executed in Alabama by nitrogen gas for the 1997 murder of gas station worker Margaret Parrish Berry.

Milam, 35, will be executed in Texas by lethal injection for the 2008 death of his girlfriend’s 13-month-old baby, an act described by the family as an “exorcism.”

Both executions are scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, marking the fifth time this year multiple executions have occurred on the same day and bringing the U.S. total for 2025 to 33, USA Today has reported.

Nine more executions are planned in eight states by year’s end, putting the country on track for at least 42 executions, the highest annual total since 2012.
