Aggressive squirrel seeking food sends at least two people to ER in California

Residents in San Rafael, California, are being warned about an unusually aggressive squirrel that has injured at least two people, sending them to the emergency room.

The attacks occurred in the Lucas Valley neighborhood, with victims reporting the squirrel biting and clawing them—one even leaping at a woman’s face.

Flyers in the area caution that the animal “comes out of nowhere” and has attacked more than five people.

Wildlife experts say the squirrel’s behavior is likely due to being fed and handled by humans as a baby, but it is not rabid, The Guardian has reported.

Authorities advise against feeding wild animals, and the city manager’s office has not commented.
