A hit-and-run in Midtown Manhattan Wednesday left a 50-year-old woman dead and her 55-year-old husband hospitalized in stable condition.

The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. at East 40th Street and 5th Avenue, when a vehicle with a “TIMES SQUARE” vanity plate struck the couple, who were visiting from Hamburg.

Eyewitnesses described the van reversing into the pair before speeding away, prompting a chaotic scene in the busy area.

Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene, while her husband was taken to Bellevue Hospital, Fox News has reported.

The NYPD is investigating through its Highway District Collision Investigation Squad, and no arrests have been made.
