Ukraine’s president says the world is in ‘the most destructive arms race in human history’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the U.N. General Assembly, warning that the world is in “the most destructive arms race in human history” and urging urgent international action against Russia.

He accused Vladimir Putin of seeking to expand the war in Europe and criticized weak international institutions, including the U.N., for failing to stop conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, and Sudan.

Zelenskyy stressed that survival now depends on allies and weapons, declaring, “Weapons decide who survives.”

He warned that if Russia is not stopped, its operations will continue spreading across Europe, citing the growing threat of Russian drones, the Associated Press has reported.

While praising U.S. and European support, Zelenskyy called on all nations to condemn Russia and act to prevent the war from dragging on further.
