Top diplomats of North Korea and China agree to deepen ties

North Korea and China agreed to strengthen bilateral ties and oppose “hegemonism” and unilateralism, signaling alignment against the United States.

The meeting of their foreign ministers in Beijing followed the first Kim-Xi summit in over six years, which included a joint appearance with Russian President Putin at a military parade.

North Korea emphasized close cooperation with China in multilateral affairs, while China stressed strategic communication and regional influence.

Analysts note that Kim is seeking stronger ties with China amid his country’s growing engagement with Russia and in preparation for potential shifts after the Ukraine conflict, the Associated Press has reported.

Attention now focuses on China’s possible delegation to North Korea’s 80th Workers’ Party anniversary, expected to include a military parade showcasing weapons targeting the U.S. and its allies.
