Bomb threat shuts Oktoberfest in Munich after explosives spark deadly fire in home

Oktoberfest in Munich was shut down on Wednesday following an early-morning explosion and fire in a northern residential building.

Authorities said the blaze, likely caused by arson linked to a family dispute, involved multiple explosive devices.

One suspect died, and two others were injured.

A written statement from the perpetrator included threats against the festival, prompting a bomb threat precaution.

Police evacuated the area, closed a nearby school, and conducted security sweeps of the festival grounds, which may reopen in the evening.

The U.S. Consulate warned Americans to avoid the area, CBS News has reported.

Authorities are also investigating possible online claims linking the incident to “antifa.”
