Alaskan climber Balin Miller, 23, died in a climbing accident at Yosemite’s El Capitan, marking the third death in the park this summer.
Miller, an accomplished alpinist known for solo climbs in Alaska, Patagonia, and the Canadian Rockies, was reportedly lead rope soloing the 2,400-foot “Sea of Dreams” route when he fell.
He had gained recognition for completing Mount McKinley’s Slovak Direct solo and shared his passion for climbing on social media, the Associated Press has reported.
Family and fellow climbers remembered him as fearless, dedicated, and inspiring, with a deep love for the sport and life.
The National Park Service is investigating the incident.
