A 60-year-old Missouri man was found dead at an Arkansas campsite after what authorities believe was a fatal bear attack.

The man had recently sent his family photos of a bear near his campsite at Sam’s Throne Campground before going missing.

Deputies discovered signs of a struggle, drag marks, and the man’s body nearby with injuries consistent with a large animal mauling.

While DNA tests are pending, officials say evidence strongly suggests a bear was responsible, NBC News has reported.

The campground has been temporarily closed as wildlife officials search for the animal, which will be euthanized and tested if captured.
