Five people, including four members of one family, were killed and tens of thousands left without power in Ukraine after massive overnight Russian missile and drone attacks, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
The strikes, which targeted multiple regions including Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa, involved more than 50 missiles and nearly 500 drones, according to Ukrainian officials.
Lviv suffered its largest assault since the war began, prompting widespread blackouts and suspension of public transport.
Poland and NATO scrambled fighter jets as some attacks neared Polish airspace, while Russia claimed it struck Ukrainian military and infrastructure sites, the BBC has reported.
Zelensky called for stronger air defenses and faster delivery of international aid, saying Ukraine must end Russia’s “aerial terror” before winter intensifies.
