Iran executed six inmates on Saturday accused of carrying out attacks in the southwest of the country on behalf of Israel, amid what activists say is the highest wave of executions in decades.
The men were alleged to have killed police and security forces and carried out bombings around Khorramshahr in Khuzestan province.
Kurdish human rights group Hengaw identified the men as Arab political prisoners detained during 2019 protests, claiming they were tortured and forced into televised confessions.
Separately, Iran executed another inmate accused of killing a Sunni cleric in 2009, CBS News has reported.
Human rights groups report that over 1,000 people have been executed in Iran in 2025, raising concerns about the use of coerced confessions and closed-door trials.
