Ex-QB Mark Sanchez now facing felony charge for altercation

Former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez now faces a felony battery charge for allegedly injuring a 69-year-old truck driver in a parking dispute in Indianapolis, in addition to earlier misdemeanor charges from the weekend incident.

Authorities say Sanchez, reportedly smelling of alcohol, confronted the driver after a minor parking incident, leading to a fight in which Sanchez was pepper-sprayed and stabbed, while the truck driver sustained facial injuries.

Prosecutors cited the severity of the truck driver’s injuries in upgrading the charge, which carries a potential 1–6 year prison sentence, and noted further charges may follow.

The truck driver has also filed a lawsuit against Sanchez and Fox Corp., claiming permanent injuries and alleging the network failed to supervise Sanchez properly, ESPN has reported.

Sanchez remains hospitalized in stable condition, with his court hearing on the original charges rescheduled for November 4.
