A REACH medical helicopter crashed Monday evening on eastbound Highway 50 near 59th Street in Sacramento, leaving all three crew members critically injured.
The crew—pilot, nurse, and paramedic—were transported to area hospitals, with one initially trapped under the aircraft before being freed by a fire captain and bystanders.
No vehicles were involved in the crash, and there was no patient on board.
Authorities, including the Sacramento Fire Department, CHP, and the sheriff’s office, are investigating the cause, CBS News has reported.
One lane of the freeway has reopened, while video and photos from the scene show the helicopter overturned and debris scattered across multiple lanes.
